A native of the Inland Northwest, I work in Clay at my Sunnyside Studio. My primary focus is wheel thrown, functional stoneware pottery and raku.

My Interest in clay began as a collector of pottery which grew into a desire to learn. I was fortunate to have studied with Sandpoint area artist Rocky Rothwell as well as Diane Millner of Stockholm Pottery in Pepin, Wisconsin. Numerous other potters have generously shared ideas and skills with me and have helped me grow into the potter I am today.

Clays used in my work are high fire stoneware and porcelain and are selected for strength and durability. All glazes used on the functional pottery are made in the studio and are food safe and durable. I strive to find glazes that are not only functional, but also have depth, are interesting and not enhanced by stains. In general, I prefer the subtle influences of nature in the colors used on my pottery. The ultimate goal is to produce a beautiful and functional presentation piece for your food or your room.

Sunnyside Pottery is located in North Idaho just outside the arts community of Sandpoint, on the fringe of an old growth pine forest - Sunnyside Park - overlooking Lake Pend Oreille. Schweitzer Mountain ski area is just minutes away and three conifer treed mountain ranges surround the lake valley. The tranquil setting abounds with wild life and lends itself to an ideal environment for creativity and relaxation.

I welcome visitors to my studio by appointment and am happy to consider special orders. All orders shipped are FOB Sandpoint, Idaho.
